A Fragrant June
This Mequon landscape designed and built in 2005 includes many special features including a spectacular rose garden. 13 years of Landscape management has allowed its owner and technicians to witness the beauty of a maturing landscape.
Landscape Designer: Jane Frank
Location: Mequon
Client Need
Full service maintenance since 2006 including snow removal, holiday decor and seasonal color.
Inspiration
The owners love their garden, and it shows. The architect named this James River House after the Virginia river known for its Georgian colonial style architecture. The formal, but comfortable gardens are a reflection of the style.
Favorite Element
Actually, there are two. The first is the rose garden. The walled garden features more than 56 hybrid tea roses and is sweet smelling all summer. The second is the annual plantings. More than 32 containers, in addition to the ground beds, are filled with seasonal displays that bring spectacular color to the yard and terraces.
Biggest Challenge
Keeping the small water feature in the rose garden running smoothly. The ram heads mouth spews fiber optic lit water and can often become clogged.
Tough Moment
Construction of the project in 2005. Masonry walls and terraces were built during the winter.
Fond Memory
Driving up to the property any time of year and being amazed with the beauty of the yard.
Proudest Accomplishment
Admiring the changing garden’s beauty each year.
