David J. Frank Receives Five State Awards in 2020

Recognition received at the prestigious Excellence in Landscaping Awards Program.

David J. Frank was recognized with two Gold Awards for landscape management and three safety awards at the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association Excellence in Landscaping Awards Program on March 6.

We received a gold award for Landscape Management—Colorscaping. Our client, the Lowlands Group (Café Benelux, Café Hollander and more) partnered with us to incorporate landscaping into their marketing brand.

To make a statement, big, bright, beautiful, and bodacious tropical plants were procured from Florida and Texas to complement Wisconsin annuals–something you don’t see too often. Over 1,600 plants were installed; some cafés contained nearly 60 planters. The successful installation and maintenance of this cornucopia of color has helped create eight popular, must-visit restaurants.  Everyone knows it’s a Lowlands Group café when they see the unique and amazing Colorscaping. We also received gold for Landscape Management—Residential. David J. Frank designed and installed this award-winning landscape 13 years ago. The client has high standards and has trusted us to meticulously maintain his dream landscape ever since.

The authentic Georgina-style residence includes a formal rose garden, tea pavilion, courtyards, and areas for entertaining. It takes multi-season care to manage the English rose garden, the focal point of the landscape home to over four dozen hybrid T classic varieties. Annual flower displays are changed out three times per year.

The lawn is kept lush and green through over-seeding and a custom fertilizing mix program due to heavy clay soil and shade areas. The weekly mowing crew keeps the yard looking manicured. Regular trimming is required to keep all hedges crisp.  Extra time is taken to hand prune necessary plants.  It takes several skilled technicians to take care of the numerous types of plants on site. And our irrigation department regularly keep the fountains clean and running at all times. Check out the entire project!
