Lovely by the Lake
The client desires a well-maintained landscape to enhance her home on Lake Michigan. Most of the landscape appears in front to impress passersby and create a welcoming feel for visitors. Also, the client hosted a big outdoor wedding, so the property needed to shine.
Tough Question
What stands out the most on this property? Is it the huge circular bed of Russian sage and boxwoods in the middle of the circular drive, the pear trees that line the driveway, or the bountiful boxwood hedges?
Property Management
Our management of the landscape includes pruning the trees and shrubs, caring for the perennials and ground cover, installing and caring for annuals, weeding the flower beds (and handpicking the weeds out of the vinca), and installing holiday décor in the winter.
Babying the Boxwoods
Performing the trim/shape on the boxwood hedges is a challenge because they are small, so we have to give them some shape while letting them grow at the same time. There are also 10 urns that feature boxwoods in the center with white begonias under them. The client has us take the boxwoods out of the urns in the fall and plant them in the wood line to overwinter; in spring we pull them out of the woods and put them back in the urns.
Wedding Wishes
The client also had some special requests just for the wedding she hosted at her home. We added white begonias everywhere. She also wanted to feature something blue so there was one blue angelonia in the center of each bed.
